TACC and VACC Sign Landmark Agreement with AADA

VACC, TACC, and MTAWA Form Alliance with Australian Automotive Dealer Association

The Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC) and the Tasmanian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (TACC), together with the Motor Trade Association of Western Australia (MTAWA), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA).

This strategic partnership follows the successful model established earlier this year between the Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTAQ) and AADA, and represents a significant advancement in industry collaboration and resource sharing designed to benefit dealer members across multiple states.

Strengthened Representation for Dealers

The agreement formally recognises VACC and TACC as the peak bodies representing new car and truck dealers in Victoria and Tasmania respectively, while acknowledging AADA’s position as the national peak industry body for issues of national significance.

The partnership establishes a framework for coordinated action across several key areas:

  • Policy development and positioning
  • Government submissions
  • Media communications
  • Committee representation

This coordinated approach ensures a unified voice for automotive dealers at both state and national levels while maintaining focus on region-specific needs.

Enhanced Member Benefits

Dealer members in Victoria and Tasmania will benefit from stronger, more cohesive representation through this structured collaboration. The agreement creates a seamless integration between state and national advocacy efforts, resulting in more effective outcomes for automotive retailers.

Peter Jones, VACC and TACC CEO, emphasised the strategic importance of the partnership: “This agreement strengthens our ability to advocate effectively for new car and truck dealers across Victoria and Tasmania. By working in closer coordination with AADA, we ensure our members benefit from strong representation at both state and national levels. This unified approach will deliver better outcomes for automotive retailers while maintaining our focus on the specific needs of our Victorian and Tasmanian members.”

AADA CEO James Voortman described the agreement as “a major step forward for dealers in the signatory states who now will benefit from one consistent voice at both the state and national level.”

Moving Towards a Unified National Voice

The MoU represents significant progress towards establishing a unified and coordinated national voice for franchised dealers across Australia. It maintains the localised support and representation that members expect from their state organisations while leveraging the strength of coordinated national advocacy.

For members with questions about how this agreement might affect their membership, Industry Policy Advisors at the respective state organisations remain available for consultation.

The partnership demonstrates the automotive industry’s commitment to strengthening its collective position through strategic alliances and unified representation.
