In a testament to the depth of the automotive industry in Tasmania, European Technology Bodyworks has put forward a candidate for the Skills Tasmania Tasmanian Training Awards. Jack West, a TACC apprentice, is in the running for the prestigious Apprentice of the Year award, sponsored by TasTAFE.
Jack’s journey began in 2020 when he started his apprenticeship after completing Year 10. Employed by TACC and hosted by the Bocchino family at European Technology Bodyworks in Moonah, Jack has quickly risen through the ranks to become a standout in his field.
Alfonso Bocchino appreciates and acknowledges Jack’s achievements and contributions.
“Jack has become a highly skilled and dedicated autobody repair technician and an integral part of our team at Bocchino Motors,” Mr Bocchino stated.
Jack’s path to success was not without its hurdles. TACC Automotive Apprenticeships mentor Nigel Fox witnessed Jack’s resilience during the challenging times of Covid-19 restrictions. Mr Fox, impressed by Jack’s performance, remarked he’s “trying to extract DNA from Jack to clone him!”
Jack’s hard work and dedication haven’t gone unnoticed. He is also vying for the prestigious President’s Award – TACC Apprentice of the Year, to be announced at the Automotive Industry Awards on 29 June.
Jack’s success showcases Tasmania’s thriving automotive sector and training programs. His story highlights the value of apprenticeships in developing skilled professionals for the evolving industry.
